Luis P. Abril began his professional career on Broadway, collaborating with Jujamcyn Theatres during the iconic productions of The Producers and Jersey Boys, among others, in New York City. He later served as Assistant to the Director of Development at Yale Repertory Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut.
From 2010 to 2022, Luis served as Artistic Director of Teatro Abril, where he led a wide range of theatrical and musical productions and helped shape the company’s artistic identity. He has produced major musical works such as Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan, and Aladdin, working alongside both local and international artists. As a playwright, he has developed and staged adaptations of The Odyssey, El Cantar del Mío Cid, and other works based on classic literature, as well as children’s fairy tales.
Luis earned his BA Magna Cum Laude from the City University of New York and holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama at Yale University. Since 2022, he has lived in Northern California, where he serves as the Artistic Director of Olympia Theatricals.
